Telling Stories Through Fiber

I don't begin by asking, "What technique should I use?" I begin by asking, "What story do I want to tell?"
Every piece starts with an idea, a memory, a place, or a moment that deserves to be shared. From there, I choose the fiber art technique that best brings that story to life. Sometimes that means thread painting. Sometimes it becomes a sculptural piece, an art quilt, handmade fabric, or needle felting. The technique is never the destination - it is simply the language that best tells the story.
My work is inspired by the places that have shaped my life, the wildlife that shares my Southern California neighborhood, and the music that has been woven throughout my life. Whether I'm capturing the quiet beauty of a hummingbird, the rugged character of the California coast, or the rhythm and movement of music, my goal is always the same—to invite viewers to pause, look more closely, and discover the story within each piece.
My path to becoming a fiber artist has been anything but traditional.
Before pursuing art full-time, I worked as an engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where curiosity, problem-solving, and attention to detail were part of everyday life. Although engineering and fiber art may seem worlds apart, I've found that they share an important quality: both begin with asking questions, exploring possibilities, and discovering creative solutions.
That spirit of exploration has guided my artistic journey for decades. I've owned an art gallery, taught business and marketing classes for artists, written books, served on arts organizations, and shared my work through exhibitions, demonstrations, and television appearances. Every experience has reinforced my belief that creativity grows through curiosity, experimentation, and a willingness to keep learning.

Today I continue to explore new ways of combining fibers, fabrics, texture, and dimension to tell stories that connect people with places, memories, and the beauty of everyday life.
I believe fiber is one of the most expressive and versatile artistic mediums available, capable of conveying warmth, movement, texture, and emotion in ways that are both familiar and unexpected.
Thank you for visiting my studio. I hope these stories, told one stitch at a time, inspire you to see the world a little differently - and perhaps discover a story of your own along the way.
