Cobblestone Pathway
My husband and I often take evening walks along the pathway behind our house. On this particular evening, the light filtering through the trees was especially beautiful, and I knew I wanted to capture that peaceful moment.
While the artwork is based on one of my photographs, I took a few artistic liberties. In the original scene, the pathway was concrete. I replaced it with cobblestones because they added more texture and helped create the feeling I wanted the piece to convey.

This time-lapse video shows me creating the grass on the left side of the artwork.
Every blade of grass begins as a tiny piece of fabric. Before cutting the shapes, I bond a heat-activated adhesive to the fabric. Using a miniature iron, I place each piece individually, melting the adhesive so it bonds to the canvas.
Once all of the fabric pieces are in place, I stitch over the entire area. The stitching blends the colors, adds texture, and transforms hundreds of tiny fabric pieces into realistic grass.
