Some landscapes don't need towering mountains or dramatic cliffs to be breathtaking.

Sometimes all it takes is an endless blue sky, gently rolling green hills, and a single rider following the trail ahead.

Lone Rider was inspired by a photograph of my stepdaughter riding her horse through the Southern California countryside. What drew me to the image wasn't just the horse and rider, but the quiet beauty of the landscape surrounding them.

I wanted to capture the feeling of open space—the vast blue sky stretching overhead and the soft, green hills rolling toward the horizon. The lone rider gives the landscape a sense of scale and reminds us just how peaceful it can be to spend time outdoors.

Although the rider is the focal point, this piece is really a portrait of the landscape itself. The horse and rider simply become part of the scene, moving quietly through it rather than dominating it.

To me, Lone Rider celebrates those moments when nature invites us to slow down, take a deep breath, and simply enjoy the journey.
