This piece is all about the sky. I wanted to create a dramatic sky with just a hint of clouds, allowing it to become as much the subject as the lighthouse itself.

This is the second piece in my California Coastal Series and features the Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego. I'm really enjoying working from photographs, much like many painters do, using them as a starting point while interpreting the scene with thousands of stitches instead of brushstrokes.
