Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night has always been my husband's favorite painting. Although I almost always work from my own photographs and ideas, I decided to make one exception.
As a special gift, I created my own interpretation of this iconic masterpiece using my thread painting technique. Rather than brushstrokes, thousands of carefully placed stitches build the swirling sky, luminous stars, and rolling landscape.
This remains the only artwork I have ever created based on another artist's work. I have no shortage of inspiration from the world around me, but for this one piece, the inspiration came from someone very special.
