Anyone who has ever been owned by a cat knows this look.
It's that perfectly innocent expression... all while sitting in the middle of undeniable evidence.
This piece was inspired by my cat, Lucifer. Yes, that really was his name, and yes, he earned it.
Lucifer had a talent for finding mischief. One of his favorite games was sitting behind my sewing machine and tugging on the fabric while I was trying to sew. I also learned very quickly to keep my yarn safely tucked away. Otherwise, I'm sure he would have created a scene very much like the one in this quilt.
For this dimensional piece, the balls of yarn were made by cutting Styrofoam balls in half and wrapping them with yarn. The cat was created using fake fur to give it a more realistic appearance.
This has been one of my most popular designs over the years. The original sold many years ago, but this cat's mischievous expression still makes me smile every time I see it.
